Es Skateboard Footwear The Accel VX Where It Started & the present model.
Nov 17, 2024
Es Footwear Is one of the most notable Skateboard footwear companies to date. With one of the most notable skate teams and giving a platform to many in the skateboard culture that went on to big sports brand. Es has one of the best selling shoes in its current and past archive with the Es Accel. The Es Accel was originally first dropped in the year 1995. The current skateboard footwear culture still loves the Es Accel being one of the most prolific skateboard shoes. With its Puffy Tonge, cupsole comfort, triple stitched toe cap. There's no question that a large number of skateboarders past and present wore a pair of the Es Accels at some point. In 2017 Es Footwear made an exclusive limited color way that was called the "Scuba Steve Accel". And guess what ES skateboarding has re introduced the Accel VX Grey which is a taste of their heritage Accel Scuba Steve color ways with modern upgrades.
The Original Es Accel Scuba Steve Color way was introduced to the skateboard footwear market in 2007. Scuba Steve was a well known filmer in the skateboard culture, and played a huge role in Es skateboardings videos and photographs. The Es video Menikmati is known to be one of the most influential skateboard videos ever, which Scuba Helped create. We at Amateur Athlete have always carried Es Footwear since the day they decided to become a company. Our shop is one of the only shops on the east coast that has carried Es footwear the entire life of the company. So to say Es shoes are some of our favorites is an understatement. Scuba Steve is knows for his documentary style of filming skate videos which has helped document some of the best skaters to date. Some of the Past Skaters on the Es skateboard footwear team are those like Eric Koston, Paul Rodriguez, Rodrigo TX, Tom Penny, PJ Ladd, Bob Burnquist, Chad Muska and more. Those very skaters have helped solidify the heritage Es footwear has in the skateboard culture past and present. Making its mark on the skateboard culture Es shoes has some of the richest history that can not be matched by and past or present skate shoe company.
Scuba Steve was known for great skateboard filming. Scuba was a huge part of why es connected with the everyday skateboarder in the mid 2000's. Scuba Steve even got his own color way with on of Es's most popular models the Accel. The Image on the ankle part of the shoe was a silhouette of Scuba Steve filming with his camera. The colors on the eyelets of the éS Accel "Scuba Steve" model—yellow, white, and red—are inspired by the RCA audio and video output jacks, reflecting Scuba Steve's role as a filmer. Which also connected to any traditional skate film or gamer. We all remember plugging in our VHS or cameras and matching up the red plug with the red hole white plug with the white hole and so on. Although many cameras nowadays no longer use this type of technology it strikes hard with nostalgia in many! Scuba Steve left Es skateboard footwear in early 2012 and went to the sports company Nike whom was just starting to get involved in the skateboard footwear culture after seeing the huge following that skateboard footwear companies were attracting. Some skateboard footwear company's were getting huge sales numbers and even more attention. The sports company Nike Wanted in on some of that market share and started scouting individuals in the skate industry to try and help a sports wear brand take on skateboarding. Es footwear was started by skaters, is ran by skaters, and doesn't take part in funding from large sports company conglomerates. That's what make Es footwear Special and different!
Fast Forward to present day and Es is gracing us with the reintroduction of the Accel Vx (Accel light grey dark grey). The Shoe color way is exactly the same with lighter gray back half and darker grey toe cap. The Accel Vx color way still has the same Red, White, Yellow lace eyelets paying homage to all those whom used to film or chose to due so now. A few very small things were changed on the new Es Accel VX grey shoes. The Silhouette on the side ankle is that of the VX camera. Where as the original was a black image of Scuba Steve in filming position. The VX camera was the number one camera used for skateboard filming around the 2000s. Many skateboarders still to this day make VX video parts or filmer special projects with the Sony VX camera. The current Acccel VX Shoes are not in collaboration with Scuba but more widely targeting anyone whose every used or had a VX Sony camera. The Accel VX has all the same modern pioneering attributes that make the Es accel one of the most notable skateboard shoes ever.
