The Spitfire wheel guide

Which Spitfire wheels are right for you?

Start with the surface you skate most. Durometer tells you how hard a wheel is; shape changes its profile and contact patch. Formula, size, and your own preferences also affect the ride.

01

Rough streets + tricks

Start by comparing 93 Soft Sliders and 97 Formula Four. The 93 offers a softer ride while retaining a controlled slide.

02

Street + skateparks

99 Formula Four is a useful starting point. Compare a Classic profile with Conical Full or Radial Full if you prefer more riding surface.

03

Cruising + getting around

Look at 80HD and 90-duro Sapphires for a softer roll. These formulas put comfort and grip first.

Spitfire durometers & formulas

Spitfire’s range spans 80, 90, 93, 97, 99, and 101 duro. A higher number generally means a firmer wheel, but the urethane formula matters too.

Duro Formula / range Ride & starting point
80 80HD Soft, cored wheels for a smooth, grippy ride. A starting point for cruising and rougher pavement.
90 Sapphires A 90-duro riding surface over a 101-duro Formula Four core. A soft cruiser option with a supportive center.
93 Formula Four Soft Sliders Softer wheels with a predictable slide. Consider them for rough streets when you still want to skate tricks.
97 Formula Four A softer-feeling Formula Four option with grip and slide. Consider it when you want a little more give than 99.
99 Formula Four • Classic 99 • Burners A popular hard-wheel starting point. Formula Four focuses on performance; Classic 99 is Spitfire’s original formula; Burners are the entry-level option.
101 Formula Four Spitfire’s hardest Formula Four duro. Consider it for a firm, fast feel on smooth skatepark surfaces.

Spitfire wheel questions

Are 93-duro Soft Sliders Formula Four wheels?

Yes. Soft Sliders belong to the Formula Four family. They combine a softer 93-duro ride with a controllable slide, making them worth considering when rough ground is part of your daily skating.

Is Classic 99 the same as Formula Four Classic?

Classic 99 names Spitfire’s original urethane formula. Classic can also name the wheel’s shape. Check both the formula and the shape in a product’s name and specifications.

What is the difference between Conical Full and Radial Full?

Both have a broad riding surface. Conical Full uses cutaway sidewalls, while Radial Full has a rounded-edge profile. Your preferred feel and how you approach ledges, coping, and slides can guide the choice.

This guide covers Spitfire’s range; it does not mean every combination is currently in stock.
