What Skateboard Should you Get?

In the skateboard culture individual expression has always been at the fore front. So wether your looking to buy your very first skateboard or considering getting back into skating again after a few year hiatus, Well try and break things down for you as the skateboard realm is ever changing and innovating.

Your First Skateboard Purchase:

When doing research on your first skateboard there is a few things that will help make your decision. First off there are many different sizes of skateboards. There is know right or wrong way to start but lets talk about it. When starting age comes into play if your looking for a skateboard for a small child, it may help to go to your nearest skate shop first and ask question. Toddlers are most of the time best starting on a seven inch skateboard. Many companies like Zero skateboards, real skateboards, Santa Cruz skateboards make boards called mini or micro skateboards.

Beginning with a seven inch skateboard helps toddlers or slightly older begin to work on balance. The boards are shorter skinnier and lighter in weight. A young child will not be doing much damage to the board but hard rock maple skateboards are the most common. Skateboards that are available at your local big box store are functional but come with many flaws. Big box stores commonly look for the cheapest boards so they can make more money of it. Toy store or big box skateboards don't function nearly as well. This can make riding your first skateboard not so fun. Chances are the bearings are junk which leads to the board not rolling smooth or easily. This can turn off any first time skateboarder. If it isn't fun your first time you won't continue to skate. So getting a skateboard that is made of better quality goods will function better, and any child will likely enjoy the experience a lot more than if starting on a skateboard that doesn't roll, rolls crooked and or is difficult to push around on.

Although there is a place for big box store skateboards, for those whom are interested in skateboard as more than just a toy. Seeking out good quality correctly sized equipment will drastically increase the enjoyment you will get out of any there toy store deck. Its hard to enjoy skateboarding when he equipment you are using is not the correct size or doesn't hold up to what wear and tear you are putting on it.

Watching your first skateboard being put together is a crucial step in your skateboarding journey. It offers valuable insight into the assembly process, helping you understand how each component contributes to performance and safety. This hands-on experience fosters a deeper connection to your board, boosting your confidence and ensuring you can make necessary adjustments or repairs in the future. Plus, it’s an exciting moment that enhances your appreciation for the skateboard culture.

Another good route to go for first time buyers or those interested in the skateboard culture is pre assembled completes that most notable good skate companies do make. The skate companies do a good job matching correct size wheels and trucks with the board size. Most skate companies like Santa Cruz, Zero, Baker, Girl and chocolate don't cut corners with things like bearings or wheels when assembling pre built complete skateboards. So checking out the different graphics and complete set ups that notable companies have to offer is highly recommended.
Building a custom complete skateboard setup offers numerous benefits, such as the freedom to mix and match components from different companies to suit your personal preferences and style. This allows you to select the best deck, trucks, wheels, and bearings for your specific needs, enhancing performance and comfort. Custom setups also let you tailor the board’s size, shape, and aesthetics, resulting in a unique ride that reflects your individuality and ensures optimal skateboarding experience. There is no right company when picking out a skateboard. That's what make skateboarding fun! Even personal has their own favorite board shape, style, and company. When picking out a custom complete you're able to mix n match all your favorite styles and brands. Rather than having all the same company components on a pre built complete.

That's why we highly recommend heading to your local skateboard shop. If you don't have local one call around ask questions see what trends are popular at the moment.
